A Great Wolf Lodge Honeymoon {A great experience}

Great Wolf Lodge

It may not seem like it but The Great Wolf Lodge is a wonderful place for a honeymoon; and the Whirlpool Suite is a must!   When we arrived at Great Wolf Lodge in Concord, NC the people at the front desk were pleasant and helpful. They gave us our keys, which happened to be wrist bands, and we were ready to go. The great thing about the wrist band is that you just scan it to get in your room and it doubles as your pass to get in the water park. I was really concerned about having to … [Read more...]

NC Museum of Art – A Creative Mom’s Plan

We all have visions of taking our kids to the Art museum. There we are standing looking at a Renaissance masterpiece and our children are discussing the finer points of the play of light on the Madonna's face. And yet, for those of us who are brave (read: foolish) enough to venture in to those hallowed halls of beauty with our children, the fantasy of perfect culture with little ones is often shattered by one piercing, bored shriek after another. So, what is a parent to do? Do we give up … [Read more...]

2nd Annual Family Fun Day Sanford, NC

Family Fun Day 2010 005

I wanted to spend more time exploring my own backyard and today it really paid off. I went to the 2nd Annual Family Fun Day at the Raleigh Executive Jetport in Sanford-Lee County. The Jetport actually opened in October, 2000 and celebrated it’s 10th anniversary by letting people come in and watch the activities. There was no charge to get in and they put together quite an event. Burt Myers, the popular NASCAR driver, made an appearance along with two of his cars. He was … [Read more...]

Blue Ridge Parkway-North Carolina!

I know that I wrote about the Thomas Wolfe Memorial and how awesome it was, but I can tell you this. Nothing can compete with Mother Nature. After finishing our tour we decided to check out the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina . We started our trip by heading for the Blue Ridge Parkway Visitors Center located at mile post 384 on the parkway. The people in the visitor center were very knowledgeable and helpful to everyone that came to the center. They were able to answer every question they … [Read more...]

Family Vacation to NC – Zoo’s Museums, and more!

NC Zoo

Over the summer my family (minus husband) went to NC to visit our families. Because we are both originally from NC most of our family lives there, so it is always a fun visit. Normally when we travel to see the grandparents we do the same things. Visit where they work, hand out at family members homes, and chillax. This time I decided I wanted to mix it up a bit, and I am so glad we did! Our first stop was Marbles' a children's museum in Raleigh, NC. The kids had a blast! Yes, Marci this … [Read more...]

Thomas Wolfe Memorial – Asheville NC

I was lucky enough to get to go to the Type-A Mom Conference in Ashville, NC this past weekend with my daughter. While I had a great time at the conference, met many very nice people and learned a lot; I wanted to tell you what I did before the conference. My husband and I were able to spend a whole day as tourists because we arrived a day early. We decided to explore the Thomas Wolfe Memorial, the acclaimed author's boyhood home and the inspiration for his novel "Look Homeward, Angel." We … [Read more...]
