I am so excited to post these updated pictures! I shared how hard Week 1 was because my stomach didn’t look anything like I expected it to, so sharing weeks 2 and 3 is much more fun because I have seen some major changes. I have also started working out which has been AWESOME! It feels so good to start working my abs again, although I am trying to take it easy because my lower abdominal area is still numb. My doctor uses an injection that he puts into the ab muscles themselves to keep them numb for a few weeks (which is great) so I don’t want to over do it and suffer later.
As you can see from my week 2 pictures the swelling started going down and the incisions started healing. I stopped wearing my compression garment in week 2 and started using Spanx instead. Not only was it more comfortable to wear the Spanx, it also helped me fit into my jeans again without irritating the incision. It is a little annoying to try clothes on that fit before surgery only to find that you are too swollen to wear them, but it will pass.
Week 3 just ended yesterday, and I love waking up each morning to check my progress. I can lay completely flat now with without the “stretching” feeling I had before which is nice but everything still feels a little tight.
I have started targeting my upper abs and obliques when I work out. I plan to add a little more to my routine every day, but when I try new exercises I only do a few at a time to make sure I don’t hurt myself. I have gone running, done some rowing, and other basic exercises like push-ups, planks, and even burpees. As always you should consult your surgeon before working out, and only do what’s comfortable for you.
Here are my week 3 pictures (don’t they look SO much better?!):
The red lines are from my clothing.
As you can see I still have some swelling (which makes my remaining stretch marks look worse) but I call this serious progress. I also love seeing more definition up top, which should only get better with exercise.
Mentally I’m feeling so much better. I am motivated to work out now because I want to see the results I could never get before the surgery. I still have a few stitches in place, but I’m thinking they should be gone in a few days. I can’t explain how happy I am that I had this surgery!

I may have missed this in your posts, but was your belly button moved? If it was, how did it heal?
Hey Jennifer, yes they cut out my original belly button and had to make a new hole for it in the skin the pulled down. So far it is healing great. I have started to massage it, and it is getting softer every day! Sounds much worse than it was lol.
Its looking great! I am very impressed at the progress already.
Oh yes week 3 is looking great, how amazing. I’m still following along as this is a procedure I want done so badly!
What a huge difference! This is fascinating seeing the progress (thank you for sharing!), and you are looking fantastic!
I am so proud of you. You look great, you feel great and things are really going well for you. I have to admit, when you first said you were going to do this, I was really nervous and worried. I know now that I should not have worried. You are having a great recovery and really look amazing. I am proud that you were able to do something this big without reservation. I hope the rest of your recovery is speedy and you are thrilled with the outcome!
Looking good! I am glad you are able to start working out again.. that will really help you to feel better – faster!
You looks great! I just had my surgery with Dr. Davis on Tuesday. I can’t wait to go in for my one week check up! Looks like we have been healing pretty much the same. Congrats!
Huge improvement this week
Wow, I have to be honest, I thought the pictures from week one were so painful! What if that’s how it sort of stays? I couldn’t imagine what it would look like just a couple weeks later! It’s amazing! I can’t believe how smooth it’s all become, how the swelling having gone down has made such a huge change in just a couple weeks! So glad you’re feeling better, especially emotionally!
I am amazed at how well you are doing so soon after surgery.
You look amazing and more importantly, I’m so happy that you are feeling so good about yourself.
Thank you for sharing this with us, you are so awesome for doing that. =)
WOW what a difference in just one week! Looking great. I so wish I could get this done, I’ve been wanting a mommy makeover since just after my first was born….now I have two and really need it!
Hope your recovery continues well and you end up with the final results you want.
