Getting Motivated To Live A #ChargedLife

I could not have received a copy of The Charge by author Brendon Burchard at a better time! I was feeling rather unmotivated and a bit overwhelmed when I started reading this book, and came away how should I say it…oh yes “charged’.

There were some key chapters that really stuck out to me, and some points that got me thinking about things in my life that needed to change.

One of the first things the author addresses are “types” of lives people live. There are people who live “caged lives”, “comfortable lives”, and “charges lives”. For the past 10 to 13 years I would say I have lived a caged/comfortable life (mostly caged). I have a serious problem…it’s called people pleasing. Somehow I went from a creative person who loved exploring different things, to a woman who conformed into a person I no longer recognized. I knew what was expected of me, so I tried to become that person. The problem with that is that it suffocates you, and stifles you’re natural talents and abilities. That, and you just can’t make everyone happy, so I was miserable and I couldn’t even pin point the cause. I also see that I had lived that life for so long, I became comfortable (in a sense) in that lifestyle, and didn’t want any type of change to come into my life.

After reading this book I am motivated to be me. A person full of life, energy, creativity, and passion. That’s who I am, and who I want to be. I have learned that sometimes you have to let people go in order to move forward. Not anyone who disagrees, but those people who just can’t let you be who you were meant to be (you know the ones).

Wanna know more about what a charged life looks like? While I don’t want to give it all away, here are a few of my favorite things about people living a purposeful and high energy life (as the author would describe it):

- They are open and observant: Not confined by the past, they accept the moment for what it is. They are patient, receptive, and more creative in how they handle what life throws at them.

- They are future oriented. They can live in the present, but are motivated by their dreams and ambitions.

- They authentically connect with others. This is hard to come by in our social media crazed age.

These are just a few things you would notice about “chargers”. If you are interested in learning how you can live a charged life, make sure you check out this book. You can also enter for a chance to win an awesome prize below!
