I am so happy to be back in the gym! While, I don’t have any weight loss goals this time around, I still have goals that I would like to accomplish. I generally try to work out 6 days a week (taking Sunday off), and like to get in at least 1 hour at the gym. I do cardio work every day, and try to strength train every other day. My body isn’t used to strength training right now, so it’s pretty painful the next day, which makes rest days necessary. If I hurt myself too badly, I struggle with not wanting to workout.
My favorite cardio machine is the elliptical because it’s low impact, and gives me a great leg workout. I don’t use the treadmills as much as I used to because running outside seems to be a lot easier on my shins. My biggest reason for not wanting to work out in the past was my workout clothes. I hated the idea of going to the gym and getting really sweaty. When I work hard, I sweat… a lot, and for a woman that can be kind of embarrassing. That’s why I love clothes like Dri-Power from Russell Athletics. Not only does staying dry in the gym prevent embarrassment, it also helps keep your body cool, which is a great bonus. I can tell a huge difference in my desire to workout, and energy level when I’m wearing clothes that work with me. If you are still wearing cotton workout clothes, I highly recommend you consider making the switch to a wicking fabric (which is also great for preventing chaffing).
