What’s In The Bible DVD Review (Tyndale Blog Tour)

I had no idea that Phil Vischer had produced a new show called What’s In The Bible, and was thrilled to be selected to review the first three episodes!

I am always looking for tools to use as aids in helping the boys grasp their Bible study. Bible study is our first session of the day and sometimes it’s nice (especially on Friday) to throw in something they can see, hear, or touch. I am currently planning the first quarter of our school year and as I plan, I am adding fun things we can do to make our study more “real”.

I don’t usually have a hard time finding simple character building shows (Adventures in Odyssey) or fun bible stories (Veggie Tales), but what I do have trouble finding are shows that dig deeper. I am so happy to say that we have finally found a series that does just that!

What’s in the Bible is so much more than I expected! It seeks to answer questions children (and some adults) have about the Bible! I was thrilled when the first question answered in the series was “What is the Bible”! Wow, what a great place to start! While most study aids start with Genesis, this series actually starts with basic theology! What a brilliant concept!

I also have to give 2 puppet thumbs up for the funny jokes (that even the kids laugh at), interesting characters, and show design that will keep kids coming back for more! It’s a hard job to create such a unique combination, but What’s In The Bible  has done just that!

I also personally enjoyed trying to figure out which voices I recognized from Veggie Tales (I know, I’m a weird, but it was fun!).

I highly recommend this series to parents who are looking for more than just another Christian kids show!

In What’s In the Bible #3, Wanderin’ in the Desert, Buck Denver and his cast of friends take us through the next three books of the Bible—Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy—helping kids understand how these books fit in with Genesis and Exodus to make up the Pentateuch and to set the stage for the trials and victories of God’s people. The question “Did this stuff really happen?” is also answered.
From the man who made vegetables talk (and sing and dance and tell Bible stories) comes this third release in the engaging new series that walks kids through the entire Bible! Each DVD is filled with an entertaining cast of characters who bring the most powerful Bible stories to life using humor, creative storytelling, and fun songs. Join VeggieTales creator Phil Vischer on a wild and zany journey and see the world’s most amazing book come to life. (From the Tyndale Site)
