Little Tikes Butterfly Beach Sandbox & Wading Pool Review

by keepinitcheap on July 27, 2010

Before I tell you how awesome this pool is, I’d like to give a big BIRTHDAY shout-out to Little Tikes! Can you believe they have been helping mom’s make kids smile for 40 years now? I can’t either! I have to say that one of the things I love about Little Tikes is how classic their toys are! Their toys are awesome because they never go out of style!

As a matter-of-fact my daughter was blessed to receive a hand-me-down kitchen from a family just before Christmas that is 15 years old! Take at look at how good a Little Tikes product looks after all those years! Sorry the picture is so dark, my daughter was sleeping so I couldn’t turn the light on :) .

Little Tikes products have always been high-quality, durable products that are built to last, and they continue to impress me!

Alexis had the pleasure of reviewing this awesome pool and sandbox combo this summer, and it is all I can do to keep her out of it!

When I first put it in the back yard, I filled both sides up with water. I didn’t have any sand on hand and I knew the boys would want to get in on the fun, so they just splashed away for the first few days!

Then my husband brought the sand home, and I thought Alexis was in sand/water heaven! She just kept running from one to the other (I highly suggest a swimsuit when playing, otherwise you will end up with a wet, sand covered fully clothed kiddo! That doesn’t sound like fun, does it?

This product has made me consider purchasing this sand and water table for inside. Some days it is just too hot here and I would love to carry this fun indoors!

My favorite feature of this product is that the pool is attached via bungee cord and can be easily dumped, and used to cover the sand box!

The Butterfly Sandbox and Wading Pool is wonderful, because it’s not just another mindless toddler toy! Not only does it get the kids outside (when it’s not too hot!); it can be used in so many educational ways!

Here are just a few examples:

-We have colored the water- Being able to touch the color of the day seems to have really helped Lexi grasp her colors!

-You can also purchase crayola colored sand for the sandbox, that would be really neat! Every day you could add a different color sand into the sandbox and you would end up with rainbow sand!

- I give the kids measuring cups and spoons and they learn not only how to measure liquids and solids but it helps develop motor skills!

Another fun tip: Put a little bubble bath and food coloring in the pool! This makes for a colorful and sudsy good time!

I am thrilled to own yest another Little Tikes product that I know will last for years to come! Who knows maybe one day will be passing both the pool and the kitchen on to my daughter’s children!

This product is currently on sale for $40.00 HERE

- Little Tikes provided this product to my family free of charge! All opinions are my own!

We love Little Tikes in our house. I still have the table and chair set I bought my oldest 16 years ago. Their products truly stand up to the test time.

That’s cool! I had no idea Crayola has colored sand. I should look into it for my kids. We have a Little Tykes slide that we bought for our oldest son’s 1st birthday. The kids still love it 8 years later.

We put rice in our sand box (like real rice, not instant rice) and it worked GREAT for keeping the rice IN the box… no sandy kids running inside! LOL I wish they had both the water/sand side when my girls were small though… we always had to have either/or! Ha!

This is such a sweet thing. Wish I had coloured water and sand options back in the day. I love this store. They really put the imagination to work.
